February 2006 Meeting Minutes

President Report (Paul Becka):

Ÿ         No Report

V.P./T.D. (Carey Nordling):

Ÿ         Carey gave out awards to those who couldn’t attend the banquet.   Mike D for annual “Big Fish” and Pat B for 3rd place.

Secretary/Treasurer (Allen York):

Ÿ         As of 2/23/06 the bank account balance is:  $1,388.15

Ÿ         Sportsmens now has 28 members and no prospective future members.

Special Projects (Clay):

Ÿ         Clay asks that he be sent company names and addresses so he can send out thank you letters to banquet sponsors.

Data (Cal):  

Ÿ         No Data Report

Ÿ         Cal requested to supply him with proof of insurance (min. coverage $100,000) for those who will be boaters during the 2006 fishing season.

Internet (Mickey):

Ÿ         Website has been updated to include recent banquet award winners and stories.

Federation (Mike B):

Ÿ         No Report

Education (Dale):

Ÿ         John Stears, a Mississippi river guide, visited us and gave detailed information on fishing the Mississippi.  He gave more specific information on fishing Pool #2.  All of which will make us better anglers during the May tournament.  Thanks John, you’re information is very much appreciated!

Conservation Director (Matt H):

Ÿ         No report

Youth (Brent S):

Ÿ         The Holy Family Catholic HS in Victoria hosted the Casting Kids event.  The event was held Saturday, February 4th, 2006.  82 children attended and all had a great time.  Brent will follow up with Gander Mountain about other Casting events this year and keep the club updated.

New Business:

Ÿ         Guest:  Andy Martin.  By a unanimous vote Andy was voted into the club.

Ÿ         Dale nominated that a $100.00 donation be made in John Stears name toward his KFAN/St. Jude tournament and was seconded by Carey.  Club unanimously voted in favor.

Old Business:

Ÿ         Dale gave update on the Federation situation.  Not a whole lot is clear at this time, however, because of a conflict in dates members will not be able to fish both, the Federation Nation and FLW “divisionals”, during the 2006 season.   More information will be discussed at the next club meeting following the next MN B.A.S.S. federation meeting.

Ÿ         Club took a preliminary vote and a quorum majority voted to stay aligned with the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation for 2006.
