January 2006 Meeting Minutes

President Report (Paul Becka):

Ÿ         Paul updated the club with the latest information about the Federation after his attendance of the National Federation Meeting held in Florida.  Hopefully we’ll have contract from both B.A.S.S. and F.L.W. by the next club meeting.

Ÿ         Votes were taken for “Sportsmen of the Year”.  For those that weren’t present Paul will send an email to obtain their vote.

Ÿ         Reminder:  Club banquet will be Saturday, 2/18 at 6:00pm.  Banquet will be at Fong’s.


V.P./T.D. (Carey Nordling):

Ÿ         No Report


Secretary/Treasurer (Allen York):

Ÿ         All members have paid their dues for 2006.  There are a couple of members that haven’t paid their additional $5.00 for the Federation increase.

Ÿ         As of 1/26/06 the bank account balance is:  $2,057.99

Ÿ         Sportsmens now has 27 members and 1 potential future member.


Special Projects (Clay):

Ÿ         Banquet Update:  15 members have signed up for attendance


Data (Cal):  

Ÿ         No Data Report

Ÿ         Cal mentioned that the criteria used  to determine the “Angler of the Year” should be used to determine “Rookie of the Year”.


Internet (Mickey):

Ÿ         No Report


Federation (Mike B):

Ÿ         Jay Green & others will stay in appointed positions to help Paul.  Paul was voted in as President of MN B.A.S.S. Federation.

Ÿ         Divisionals will be held on  Le Homme Dieu.

Ÿ         John Murphy elected Eastern Divisional Representative.

Ÿ         MN B.A.S.S. Federation deal with Lowrance is completed.  Savings for Fed members will be significant over list prices. 

Ÿ         B.A.S.S. Weekend Series permits have been approved.


Education (Dale):

Ÿ         Upcoming educational opportunities are a DNR rep at the March meeting and John Stears, a Mississippi guide, will visit us hopefully at the April meeting.


Conservation Director (Matt H):

Ÿ         No report


Youth (Brent S):

Ÿ         Brent has taken possession of the “Casting Kids” gear.

Ÿ         The Holy Family Catholic HS in Victoria is hosting the Casting Kids event.  The event will be Saturday, February 4th, 2006.  We will need many club members to assist with the children.  Time: 7:30 - 3:30pm.


New Business:

Ÿ         Club voted to pay $25.00 to Pat Hagen for the Hot Rod calendars.  This expense is for a fundraiser event.

Ÿ         New Guest:  Dale introduced Andy Martin.  Welcome Andy!

Ÿ         No report
